Crib Goch

A couple of years ago while out hammocking in N Wales with my brother we got onto the subject of "Old Father Time" and how he will inevitably catch up with you. From that came the idea of climbing Crib Goch, before we were both physically unable to. I've hit 50 and my brothers in his mid 40s (no spring chickens) We have both got to the summit of Mt Snowdon several times before but never via Crib Goch which runs along the N/E side of Snowdon at just under 1000m high.

I was visiting my brother and family for a week who just happen to live within a hour of Snowdonia. We only had a window of one day to attempt it due to my brothers work/family commitments. A Thursday it would be! The weather leading up to that day wasn't the greatest with low cloud and rain but as you can see in the photo's, the Weather Gods shone upon us, the Mountain Gods allowed us to pass over the ridge unscathed and quality time was spent with my brother.

Below: are a few photo's and a video of our encounter with Crib Goch.

The start 7.15am..... wondering if we would make it back?

Greetings from the warden!

Brother assessing the task ahead!

What the hell are we about to do?

New friends made and a photo opportunity

Looking back at Crib Goch

Seven and a half hours later we arrive back where we started with some what weary legs but big smiles. An experience i'll take to the grave and would highly recommend it to anyone who's thinking of attempting it. A good pair of boots, suitable clothes for a lot of scrambling/climbing and a few bottles of water and your ready for Crib Goch! If you are thinking of attempting it don't be put off by YouTube video's they look more scarier than it actually is...

A short video that captured our time there....
